Special Issue Introduction

Peripheral nerve injuries in the upper extremity can cause significant morbidity and disability. Advances like distal nerve transfers and targeted muscle reinnervation promise better outcomes for patients, while traditional techniques like nerve grafting continue to play a vital role.

In this special issue of Plastic and Aesthetic Research, we will focus on new developments in the clinical and basic science arena, which promise better outcomes for diagnosing and treating these often debilitating injuries.

Keywords

Peripheral nerve, brachial plexus, amputee reconstruction, targeted muscle reinnervation, nerve grafting, nerve transfers
