Special Issue Introduction
In this Special Issue, we will plan to discuss a variety of topics related to the cutting-edge advances in head and neck reconstruction. These topics include the use of chimeric flaps, both soft tissue and osseous, to rebuild complex head and neck defects; virtual surgical planning and prefabricated models to aid in three dimensionally complex defects; creation of customized implants for cranial defects; the role of robotic surgery to aid in difficult reconstructions; the current state of tissue engineering to rebuild/reconstruct craniofacial defects. We look forward to submissions in the near future, and are open to other topics to make the head and neck surgeon familiar to the current advances in reconstruction.
