Special Issue Introduction
Negative-pressure wound therapy (NPWT) involves the controlled application of negative pressure to the wound environment, through an occlusive dressing connected to a vacuum pump. This is one of the Newest modalities that have gained popularity in recent few decades for treatment of acute, sub-acute, chronic and difficult-to-treat wounds. There are numerous research articles and reports available now. There is a need to review these articles to provide guidelines for younger generations, to find out lacunae in the available literature and for researchers to further advancement. The special issue will mainly focus on reviews, clinical research, technique and newer concepts related to NPWT.
Potential topics of the special issue will include:
• Vacuum assisted closure
• Limited access dressing
• Suction assisted dressing
• Limb salvage using NPWT
• Advanced wound care using NPWT
• Wound bed preparation using NPWT
