The rate of rejection increased from 52.25% in 2016 to 54.65% in 2017. The 39 articles were read cumulatively 56,209 times, and were downloaded 2,728 times in 2017. According to statistics, the most viewed article was an Original Article, entitled "Thermal Distribution and Response in Q-Switched Ruby Laser Treatment for Oculodermal Melanosis (Nevus of Ota) "; and the most downloaded article was a Review article, entitled “Multipotency and secretome: the mechanisms behind the regenerative potential of adipose-derived stem cells ”.

As the readership expands and the international influence grows, more and more renowned experts are inspired to set up special issues and support the development of the journal. At present, we're running a total of 10 special issues, including Applications of Biomaterials in Plastic and Reconstructive Research; Advances in Microsurgery for Upper and Lower Extremity Reconstruction and Limb Preservation and other related hot topics. PAR also carried out extensive cooperation in 2017 and established close ties with 8 large international conferences, e.g. the 23rd International Conference on The and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (ICOMS), 14th Chinese Academic Conference on Medical Cosmetology of the Chinese Medical Association, etc.

In order to improve the reader/author experience and achieve high efficiency in academic publishing, the editorial team has carried out overhauls in various aspects. In August, the website underwent an optimization. In September, the online submission system was replaced by Editorial Manager®, one of the most widely used systems in the world. In October, the Editorial Board (including 158 experts) was reorganized. Soon afterwards, a new editorial team of 35 high achievers with remarkable influence both at home and abroad was formed after careful evaluation. In December, the typesetting of articles was optimized.

Hereby, PAR editorial team would like to extend heartfelt gratitude for the arduous efforts and continuous support from our Editor-in-Chief and all Editorial Board members, reviewers, readers, authors and other experts in the field of plastic and aesthetic research, who have always been concerned with the development of journal in the past year! In 2018, under concerted efforts of experts and all editorial staff, the journal will continue to publish high-quality articles, reinforce the team of Editorial Board members, speed up the process of publication, and continue to counter new challenges and innovations with better services for authors, readers and other experts by providing an efficient, convenient, international academic exchange platform for experts in this field. I believe that PAR will embrace a new breakthrough in 2018 with the joint efforts of everyone!
